35 weeks? When the heck did that happen?

Can we just pause for a moment. This is an update about what 35 weeks was like. That means I'm DONE with 35 weeks... and you know what comes after 35? Yep - 36! Some consider that full-term. Some wont sling that terminology around until 37 weeks. Either way - holy Toledo, you guys. This is happening soon!

I try every week to make sure I get all of the misspellings fixed before/soon after posting. However, let me just defend myself in advance. I have no feeling in my fingers. That makes it hard to type. Trouble typing mean I have a hard time spelling words right because I am constantly hitting the wrong keys. Just bare with me and don't judge if a bunch of things are spelled incorrectly!

  • How far along? All done with 35 weeks.
  • This week Xavi was the size of a coconut. Can we all just toss up a 'Hallelujah' for finally getting back to a food item that I can relate to. Hang on - I totally just related. I'm carrying around a coconut? What the actual heck. And he's only going to get bigger? What the actual double heck. I hear during week 35 babies tend to be 17.2 to 18.7 inches long and about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds. You guys - let that simmer. How the heck is that big ol' thing supposed to squeeze through that not so big ol' thing? Let's focus on something else - this week we're all systems 'go'! Hearing is fully developed, the circulatory and musculoskeletal systems are complete and his lungs are mature. I'll have to remember that when he's not listening. I'll have to throw him a, "TheBump told me that your hearing was fully developed when you were 35 weeks in utero. I know you hear me, Xavi!" Somebody remind me about that one.
  • Total weight gain/loss: I really don't know. I have a doctor appointment on Thursday. I'm sure they'll let me know then. I've heard that now that I am on summer break and can sit sit with my feet up that some of the swelling could start to drain and that would help get rid of some of the water weight. That sounds delightful.
  • Best moments this past week:
    • We went to 3 World Cup friendlies. We saw 2 in Tampa and we drive to Jacksonville on Saturday to see the US play Nigeria. We took one of Jason's cousins with. That was a very fun experience. Getting to the stadium was frustrating and parking was dangerous - more dangerous than I'd like to admit as a 9 month pregnant lady. I'm sure many people were judging me as I wobbled across the interstate. You read that right.
    • After the game Saturday we stayed in Jacksonville. The hotel's ice machine was so close to our room and their ice was so crunchable!
    • Sunday we took advantage of being on the other side of the state and we went to see the Castillo de San Marcos (big freakin' fort) in St. Augustine. Alejo (Jason's cousin) had never been and it was fun. They got to see the cannons being fired while I hung out near the air conditioning in the gift shop.
    • Sunday afternoon we took advantage of driving back across the state and stopped at Downtown Disney for dinner. Alejo hadn't been there either so it was fun to take him to the Lego store and "OOH" and "AAH" at all the cool Lego stuff. We ate at the House of Blues and the food was super yummy.
    • Last week Xavi's glider came in. I am beyond in love with it. I haven't sat in it much as my ADD tends to kick in and there's not much to do in that room now but fall asleep in the chair... which Jason may have done. :) It's the last piece of furniture we'll get for his room. We just need to get a monitor and we'll be all set. (I may be overwhelmed with making that decision at the moment!)
    • HELLO, SUMMER! It's gonna be a good one. We've got some pretty super duper stuff planned!
  • Food Cravings: Watermelon, ice, Corn Chex, orange juice, Tropical Smoothie Hawaiian Breeze with strawberries Smoothies
  • Labor Signs: Not really. There isn't any consistency to them. So that means no, right?
  • Movement: Like woah. Movements are big and painful at times.
  • Belly Button: It was an outie the other night. I was really full after dinner. We're back to winking for now, thought.
  • What I miss: Sleeping on my belly, fitting into ALL of my pajama pants, my ankles, seeing the bones in my feet
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • There's this thing called the World Cup that starts on Thursday. It's the talk of our house. Soccer (as if you didn't know) is #1 in our life. There's something special about the World Cup though. I love that the whole world comes together to play this one sport. I love how excited Jason is. It's going to be fun!
    • I'm pretty sure we'll be buying a bigger TV within the next month. Jason's itchin' for a bigger one and it's World Cup Time so I wouldn't be surprised if we went to the store and I saw him scoot around the corner with a big ol' 60" in the cart.
    • We've recently given our back yard a MAJOR face lift. Over the last month we've been searching for the perfect patio furniture to finish it all off. We finally found what we want and were lucky enough to have enough points on a few of our credit cards so that we will only have to pay about 1/8 of the cost! I can't wait to order it and see how good it looks back there!
    • The next 9-10 weeks of summer. This summer will look much different than what we're used to. Oh, what fun!
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • Compression socks. They might not be cute but here are some good things about them:
      • 1. They give you your ankles back... even if it's just for a short while.
      • 2. They will ALWAYS be a pain in the butt to put on - thus guaranteeing enjoyment and laughter for all who are watching.
      • 3. Sometimes it's fun to wear one on just one of your feet and compare the results. Then when you go out in public strangers look at you funny. (Hey - it's the first time in 2 months they focused on something other than my belly!)
      • 4. They feel really good to peel off!
    • The Mexican restaurant we went to in Jacksonville is sooo good! Their margaritas are $1.99 and apparently taste like Gatorade. Jason's a fan.
    • Target keeps track of your returns without receipt. They use your drivers license. You can return up to $70 of merchandise within a year without a receipt. HOWEVER, if you have a registry with them, you can print your purchase log at the store and return ANYTHING for up to 6 months after the event (i.e.: your due date) - even if it wasn't on your registry.
Picture next week. :)

Sayonara 34 weeks!

  • How far along? 34 weeks - Finito!.
  • This week Xavi was the size of a butternut squash. What random stuff. Geeze. Any-whooo... They say he's about 17.2 to 18.7 inches long and the Dr. told me last week that she thinks he's about 5 pounds right now. I asked her to double check and make sure he wasn't 25 pounds - which would explain this rapid weight gain. She stuck with 5. Boo.
  • Total weight gain/loss: More that I wanted to. The swelling isn't going down and as Xavi grows so do I. I'm healthy. Let's put it that way. I really haven't stepped on a scale, though. Ignorance is bliss.
  • Best moments this past week:
    • Jason had try-outs for his competitive team. It's an awful week for him. He doesn't sleep leading up to it and the week of is even worse. He always gets so stressed out about no one showing up and then he stresses when he has to cut kids. I love it because it lets me do some paperwork that isn't school related. I always get so excited about it and then after the first day I'm ready for it to be over because of what it does to Jason. I guess this is a 'best moment' because it's over and we don't have to do it for a whole year...
    • We had our third (and final) baby shower at Jason's mom's house on Saturday. It was fun and we got a lot of good stuff. :) We're starting to buy whatever else we need and getting the house organized for him. Now that we know what we have and what we need it's much easier to wrap our brains about what our life will look like in a month. Please understand that I'm not saying that I know what life will be like - I'm saying that I know where I'm going to stick that vibrating chair for now. I know we have no clue what's about to happen. Again - ignorance is bliss.
    • 7 weeks ago when we ordered our glider Jason saw a stuffed elephant at Babies R Us and has been talking about it since. He wanted it for Xavi's room. We didn't want to have a theme but once he saw this elephant so many other ideas came on in. This week? This week we bought Xavi Jason that elephant. It's so sweet. It's bigger than Mia. We love it. It fits nicely in a cozy corner in his room and I can already hear myself telling Xavi to get off of it and stop climbing on it. Ha ha. Here's the elephant:
      • FAO Schwarz Big Elephant - FAO Schwarz - Jumbo-Sized - FAO Schwarz®
  • Food Cravings: Watermelon. Watermelon. Watermelon.
  • Labor Signs: I don't think so. I'd know, I'm sure.
  • Movement: Like woah.
  • Belly Button: I think it's winking at me.
  • What I miss: My ankles. Seeing my feet when I stand up.
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • Tonight we're going to see Japan vs. Costa Rica play a soccer game at Raymond James. We're pretty pumped about the World Cup so the friendlies before are going to be fun.
    • Friday we're going to see another 2 teams play at Raymond James. I don't know who it is yet. I'll figure it out.
    • Saturday we're driving to Jacksonville to watch the US Men's team play against someone.. we're excited about that too. I'm really excited that we're going to stay in a hotel room. That means I have a change of sleeping in a decent bed. We're in need of a new one.
    • Summer starts this week. Jason's last day with kids was Friday (5/30) but he has meetings until Wednesday. My last day with kids is Wednesday (6/4) but I have to stay to pack up my room on Thursday. Thankfully Jason is coming to help. I'm a slow packer these days... I'm slow at everything. There was a fire drill today and I'm pretty certain that if it had been real I would have been scorched. True story.
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • Water. Publix sells 50oz bottles for 89 cents. It's way easier to keep track of drink 2 of those a day rather than 6 regular sized water bottles.
    • The bowl from the medium sized container of watermelon from Publix fits perfectly into the cup holder in my car. Try it. You're welcome.
    • Sometimes you wear a size 7.5 shoe before you get pregnant. Then one day you wake up and have to go out and buy some big ol' size 9s because everything gets bigger when you're pregnant.
    • Everything gets bigger when you're pregnant.
    • Watermelon.

33 Weeks: Fin.

  • How far along? All done with 33 weeks.
  • This week Xavi was the size of a durian. Whatever the heck that is. Really? There isn't any other, perhaps common, fruit that we could have gone with? Durian? At week 33, Xavi weighed about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. He may even grow up to a full inch this week! He's turning into a curious kid who can keep his eyes open while awake. Good thing. Wouldn't want him to miss all that's going on in there! He's starting to coordinate his breathing with his sucking and swallowing. Those baby bones are continuing to harden as well.
  • Total weight gain/loss: Honestly? I have no clue. I know I haven't gone down. I know he's growing. I just haven't had the time (or interest) in stepping on the scale this week. It's nice not to worry about the number and just make sure that I'm eating healthy things and drinking LOTS of water. Lots. Of. Water.
  • Best moments this past week:
    • We're now down to the single digits in days until summer. I can't wait. Really.
    • Last Thursday I had a shower at work. It stressed me out a little beforehand but ended up being perfect. Contrary to popular belief, I don't love being the center of attention. I tend to get anxious and don't know how to handle people staring at me. I was all worked up over this for weeks. Luckily, I got to have a dual shower with another teacher who is pregnant and was equally stressed about the same thing. The shower ended up being more focused on food and teachers chatting after a long day. It was great. We got some really great things and gift cards that will come in handy.
  • Food Cravings: Watermelon, ice, water, Frosted Mini-Wheats
  • Labor Signs: I don't think so. I'd know, I'm sure.
  • Movement: As he gets bigger and runs out of room his movements are becoming more prominent painful. Like stop-you-in-your-tracks painful. So I stop in my tracks, tell him to chill out, and we keep it moving.
  • Belly Button: It's going to pop. Soon. Right now it's a half innie and half wannabe outie. Very cute.
  • What I miss: My ankles. Shoes that fit.
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • Saturday is my last baby shower. That means that we can order the last few things and start finishing his room. We should probably order a mattress for his crib soon...
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • Keep limber. For real. Before you get pregnant make sure that you keep stretching so that you can be able to find creative ways to do simple tasks when you're pregnant. What kinds of things? Oh, you know... pick up the keys when you drop them 30 times a day because you have no grip in your fingers anymore, shave your legs, paint your toenails, fight with your sandals to get the straps over your swollen toes and feet... you know... normal stuff.
That's what 33 weeks looked like!

32 Weeks

  • How far along? We're all done with 32 weeks now. I was a fan of 32 weeks. 31 weeks? You can keep that one. Thankyouverymuch.
  • This week Xavi was the size of a squash. He was somewhere around 15.2-16.7 inches long and 2.5-3.8 pounds. It's hard to believe that he's going to double his weight in the next 7 weeks.
  • Total weight gain/loss: +26. The swelling hasn't gone down and I don't expect it to. I have figured out how to manage it and things are less painful this week. The Dr. told me to wear a wrist brace on each arm when I sleep to help with carpal tunnel. It's working and I'm so thankful for them. They're not cute, but they make me feel better.
  • Maternity Clothes: Nothing new. I had the urge to go shopping last week but then I remembered that nothing fits and I don't want to spend much more money on maternity clothes. No shopping occurred.
  • Best moments this past week:
    • Friday was our anniversary. It was simple and sweet and exactly what I had hoped for. Our anniversary traditions make me happy.
    • I figured out how to manage the pain from swelling. That was a good day. (The answer? Oh, ya know, just about 100 ounces of water a day. No. I'm not kidding.)
  • Food Cravings: Watermelon, Pineapple, Tropical Smoothie Cafe Hawaiian Breeze smoothies with strawberries added in. I'm sad that there isn't one close to home... but it's probably a good thing.
  • Wedding Rings: I make sure to give them a little nod every morning as I pass by them on my way to the shower. We reminisce. I miss them.
  • Labor Signs: Nope. Thankfully. There's a group of moms that are having their babies in July and I follow that board on thebump.com. 7 or 8 July babies have already been born. I feel like there's a new one born every day. It's scary but also nice to see that so many of them are doing well. :)
  • Movement: Yep. It's constant and the movements are getting more noticeable to those around me. Last week I was sitting in a chair while students were taking a test. He jumped so hard that it distracted the student and she was more focused on my jumping belly than her math test. Oops. Not my fault.
  • Belly Button: You know the deal. I have discovered that I am saving 3-4 seconds of shower time because I don't have as much belly button to clean. Wonder what I'll do with all that time?
  • What I miss: Not much this week. It was a good one.
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • Thursday is my Baby Shower at work. I'm excited to share the shower with another teacher who is having her baby in August. I'm also excited about cake.
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • Tums. Heartburn ain't no joke.
    • 100 ounces of water a day. Chug it.
That's all I got!

Celebrating Sweet Xavi (Part 1)

Last Saturday we celebrated Xavi with some of our best friends and family. We are so overwhelmed with the excitement and love and support that we have received from so many of the people in our life. We know that Xavi will be loved and can't wait for him to know how special he is.

My mom and sister threw our first shower. It was at my mom's house and it was everything I wanted. They took into consideration the games I like (and don't like) and listened to my thoughts. They ordered samples of invitations and let me pick my favorites and chose from them. They served my favorite foods and were so generous and wonderful this weekend. It was a great day.

Here are some of the pictures I took:

I want to remember how I opened my first gift and was surprised that the person knew exactly what we wanted. I must have looked so dumb when I shouted out, "This is the same one we wanted!" Duh, Alicia. It was on your registry. Pregnancy Brain is real.

There's something about a cake from Publix. I'm a Publix Cake snob and I'm not afraid to admit it. I've never had a nasty cake from Publix. If you don't know what I'm talking about I feel for you. The cake said "To: Xavi" and the blocks have finger puppets in them. They're now in his toy bin. :)
My mom and sister made some fun towel art. The little bowls are for baby food and will be used to hold snacks and food once he gets into solids. I love when things are re-purposeful! (Is that a word?)
We asked for books instead of cards. We got some great books. Sometimes I think my mom has our house tapped with microphones because I have recently been semi-stressing about storing and organizing books and some other things. She and my sister bought us a book case. As I opened gifts on Saturday, the books got placed right onto the bookcase. Here you can also see some peas in a pod towel art, a Willow Tree People of a mom and dad holding their baby*, a soccer piggy back (with a deposit from grand mom and granddad already made!), and the blue beach pail party favors**

* When we got married we got my parents each a Willow Tree Person as a parent gift. They got us a Willow Tree Couple that is currently in our living room. My mom and dad got us this one for Xavi and coincidentally we for my mom a grandmother Willow Tree Person for Mother's Day. I guess that's our thing.

** The blue pails are sweet because when I asked my bridesmaids to be my bridesmaids I gave them each a blue pail like this. It was filled with Amish Friendship Bread. My mom found these and gave them as favors (there was candy inside) to be a reminder of where it all began. The white shelves that the pails are on is actually a Lazy Susan for baby food. I love then things serve more than one purpose!

I always forget to take pictures with everyone. Luckily Kelly thought of it for me. Kelly was my Maid of Honor in our wedding. She's been a great source of advice and a level head for me throughout all of this. There have been many times when she's talked me out of a panic attack. We're fond of white and navy stripes... and each other.

We had a great time celebrating Xavi with some of our favorites. I was so overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we got. We spent most of Saturday evening organizing everything and deciding where it would go. We have gotten everything put away and organized. All of the clothes have been washed and put into drawers where we think they will be easily accessible. I'm sure we'll decide later on that what we think is a good spot for now really makes no sense. That's part of the fun, though, right?

Thanks, Mom and Kim. For everything.

Too-da-loo 31 weeks!

Have you every typed "Too-da-loo" before? It's a weird word to type. Is it 'da' or 'de'? Whatever.

So. 31 weeks. Wow. I can tell that Xavi did a lot of growing this week. How? Well, I am feeling large - all day, every day. (Although some of my faves have told me that I look great! That's always nice to hear when your shoes, watch, and wedding rings don't fit anymore because you're so bloated!) I love them. :)

  • How far along: all done with 31. Suddenly time is slowing. I feel like the school weeks are zipping by and the baby weeks are going in slow-mo. Maybe because we have so many fun things going on at school and swelling, heartburn, and potty breaks every 15 seconds aren't as much fun. It will all be worth it. <-- My current mantra.
  • This week Xavi was the size of a pineapple. Let's pretend like it's a pineapple that has been de-spiked and is smooth. I like it better that way. During week 31 babies are generally between 15.2 and 16.7 inches long. They weigh about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds. It's so fun that we're getting so close to his birthday. I can't wait to meet him and see how long he really is and how much he really weighs.
  • Total weight gain/loss: +25. I am certain that a lot of the weight I gained within the last 2 weeks is water and swelling. The swelling used to go down at night. I could come home from work and put my feet up and rest a while and the swelling would get better. Not anymore. It's constant and painful.
  • Maternity Clothes: I got a new dress this weekend. I didn't try it on in the store. I went in, found a color I liked and bought it. When I got home and tried it on I felt like a tent. Jason was so sweet to suggest accessories and shoe options and helped me feel better about it. It's super comfortable and adorable. He somehow knew exactly what I needed to hear at that moment. What a guy. I can't wait to watch him be a daddy to our sweet baby.
  • Best moments this past week:
    • This week Jason changed his practice schedule. I like when he changes it up because I get to have him home earlier on days that I'm not used to.
    • Saturday was my first (of 3) baby showers. (More on that in another post.) For now I'll say that I was surrounded with many of my favorite people and food celebrating my favorite baby. It was such a good day. We are so lucky to have so many people in our life who are so excited to meet our sweet boy and love on him.
    • Saturday (as I was being showered) Jason was coaching a scrimmage game against a team that has traditionally been a tough opponent. It makes me so proud to say that they won against this team. There's just something about Coach Jason that I am so proud of. Since the beginning of "us", being a soccer coach was all Jason ever wanted to do. He wasn't sure of what he wanted to do for a career, but he always wanted to be a soccer coach. He is so passionate about the game and he loves to learn and grow as a coach. It makes me so happy to see that all of the hard work, study time, personal time, dedication, stress, and time spent away from home pay off. Being a soccer wife isn't always easy. I share my time with 18 other families. Our vacations are usually tournaments. But I know that it makes him happy and I know that game-by-game and season-by-season he is slowly realizing his dream. I am so proud of him and I love to watch him find so much joy.
  • Food Cravings: Ice. Someone told me that craving ice is a sign of an iron deficiency. I may need to look into that and see if I need to get a supplement. Remind me.
  • Wedding Rings: I got one on the other night. I threw a mini party for myself then quickly took it off. I knew it wouldn't last. I've also not been able to comfortably wear my wrist watch either. They now share the same shelf in the bathroom. Hangin' out, talkin' about the good ol' days when I'd take them out to explore the world. I miss them. I miss having fingers instead of sausages. It will all be worth it.
  • Labor Signs: None. He is getting heavier. I know that doesn't mean anything.
  • Movement: Yep. He's now started to occupy both sides of my belly. I can tell that things are getting tight in there because I can feel him in all areas of my belly all at one time. It's fun to feel him move. I know that will be something I miss once he's born.
  • Belly Button: You know the deal.
  • What I miss: My wedding rings, shoes that fit, sleeping comfortably
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • Friday is our anniversary. Can't wait. I love everything about that day.
    • We bought tickets to go to the Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil next Wednesday. We're pretty excited.
    • Next Thursday is my school shower.
    • Next month not only brings The World Cup, but some of Jason's family will be visiting from Colombia. We won't be able to do everything with them but we're excited to see them.
    • May 31 is my shower with Jason's side of the family. We're pretty excited about that too. His culture includes the men at showers. That's different that what we're used to and I'm excited to see what Jason's mom comes up with .
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • Sleep when you can. Even when it's inconvenient for those around you. They'll manage.
I am completely thankful to be having such a great pregnancy and I know that there are many people who aren't as lucky as we have been so far. Don't read that I'm ungrateful for all of the amazing things that are going on in our lives. I do want to be honest about what is happening right now. Not everything about being pregnant is butterflies and rainbows. I have been super swollen these last couple of weeks. It's extremely painful. I am woken up in the middle of the night with tingling sensations in my arms because of the swelling and lack of blood flow. I have to strategically set up my pillows at night so my hands are straight out so that I can bend my fingers in the morning. Most mornings I can't even unscrew the cap off of the milk or turn on the shower. I have trouble writing at all times during the day.  It hurts 95% of the day. Does this make me any less grateful to be able to be pregnant? No. I know that in the end it will all be worth it once I see our sweet baby. But for now? It sucks. Right now? It's hard. Right now? I want to be able to have feeling in my fingers. This is real. This is what it's like for me. I don't usually complain and I'm (for the most part) a trooper when it comes to pain. But it's easy to talk about the great things that are happening and easy to leave out the real things that aren't so great and make your life look like it's all sunshine and daisies. Pregnancy isn't easy. That's for sure.

30 Weeks

I need you to take a minute to think about how far we've come. This is my 30 week update. I'm telling you what my 30th week (last week) was like. That means that I have actually already started my 31st week. That means we have reached the "Single-Digits-In-Weeks-Until-My-Due-Date" range. Feel free to panic.

Now that we're all done panicking...

  • How far along: all done with 30 weeks. 2 hands worth of weeks until our due date. It's coming quick. Scarily quick. We're growing up so fast...
  • This week Xavi was the size of a cucumber. I'm gonna imagine that they're talking about length-wise. Because I know he sure as heck isn't that skinny. Babies this size are, on average, 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and 2.5 to 3.8 inches long. We're talking about those long skinny cucumbers.
  • Total weight gain/loss: I forgot to weigh myself this morning. Right now I'm at +23. I am gonna stick with that even though that means I gained 4 pounds in a week. More on that later...
  • Maternity Clothes: I am proud so say that I bought 2 maternity dresses this week and I am in L.O.V.E. They're so comfortable and so cute and I get to be comfy and not look like a Duggar. I bought one in a size that is too big and I'm hoping to find it in the size I need tonight when I drive to St. Pete. Since I only have 1 in a size I need I may have worn it every day since buying it. (Don't worry. I did a load of laundry each night so I was wearing a clean dress.)
  • Best moments this past week:
    • Finding my dresses at Target. Have I mentioned I'm in love?!
    • We found a sweet little ceramic elephant for his room while we were out on Saturday afternoon. I love it. Jason does not love my elephant impersonation.
  • Food Cravings: Olive Garden Salad. Let it be known that the Montoya's love Olive Garden about a gajillion times more than Carrabba's. From the drink menu to the appetizers and bread and food choices. Olive Garden all the way. We had it Friday night and all was right in the world. mmm...
  • Wedding Rings: This week was the week. My wedding rings no longer fit. It's pretty sad. I love them. I tried on Wednesday to squeeze them on. I got them on and walked from one bathroom to the other. By the time I got to the guest bathroom my entire finger was eggplant purple and swollen to more than double it's normal size. It took me about 5 minutes to get all 3 rings off and I felt the pain and discomfort all day. This brings me back to the +23 pounds for this week. You name it - it's swollen. My watch is getting to be too tight, the hair band that I keep around my wrist is leaving marks, even my sandals are starting to dig in. I've upped my water intake and heard that some lemon added to the water can help with the swelling. Epsom salt is on my grocery list and we're going to try that out. Jason has been rubbing my feet at night and that seems to help for a while. All I can think of is Kim Kardashian's feet when she was pregnant and I can totally feel for her:

Now, I would recommend sticking to flats, but we all have our preferences. So I'd like to blame most of that weight gain on that. Agree with me.
  • Labor Signs: None.
  • Movement: It's constant. He lives on my left side 95% of the time and moves mostly during the day. He's not very active at night and I get to sleep well. (Sleep would be better if we weren't in need of a new bed!) I feel him even when I'm standing and walking around. For most of the day my stomach looks pretty lop-sided and we can all tell that he's hanging out on the left side. When I lie down he moves more and it's really funny to watch. I get distracted in meetings or when I'm having conversations with people. I'm sure they understand. Sometimes he'll kick the heck out of me and people around me freak out and think that I need help. That's always fun.
  • Belly Button: Flat. We said good-bye to my belly button this week, too.
  • What I miss: My wedding rings, shoes that fit
  • What we're looking forward to:
    • This Saturday is my first of 3 showers. Because of family size and lack of places to hold a shower with 50-60 people, we decided as a couple/family that it would be easier and more comfortable for all if we had separate showers. I have been at parties before where I felt so uncomfortable because there were so many people I didn't know. I have so much anxiety about pleasing everyone at all times that it will be much easier for me to relax and enjoy the day if I'm not worried about whether everyone is comfortable or understanding everything that's being said or if everyone's included. :)
    • Summer is <soclose> and we can't wait. We're in the teens of days and I really can't believe that we're already in May!
    • Next Friday is our 5 year wedding anniversary. I love our traditions for our anniversary. Every year we go to dinner at the hotel where we were married. We have yummy food and watch the sun set on the beach. We get yummy dessert and I always end up in tears talking about our wedding day. After dinner we go back home and write our memories from the past year in a journal that I made for Jason on our first anniversary (paper). We're going to have lots to write in there this year. We take a picture every year and add that to it so we can see how we've changed. We'll start adding in pictures of Xavi, too, so we can see how he's changed. It's always a good night.
    • The World Cup starts next month. Jason's a bit of a soccer fan so we're all super excited about that.
  • Weekly wisdom:
    • When your wedding rings can't fit anymore and you get a $10 ring from Target to wear in the mean time the "diamonds" will probably fall out before the end of the day.
    • Practice shaving with the lights out or with your eyes closed. There's going to come a time when you're just guessing and you'll be glad that you're a pro by then.
    • Pay attention to the memories you're making. They're pretty great.
Well, that's what 30 weeks was like. Pretty big week for us. :)
